5:43PM - BRIAN EWING Art Show 4.7.08 in Los Angeles, CA

April 7th 2008
Los Angeles, CA
at the ROXY on Sunset Blvd

A solo show of Brian Ewing's past and present screen and litho rock posters.

Atticus and Jedidiah along with the awesome folks Punk Rock Social... are sponsoring an art show for me in LA. I'm usually way too busy trying to not miss a deadline and avoid the sun to have time to exhibit my work.

There are going to be some bands - like FINCH, THE SECRET HANDSHAKE, HALOS and some dude from HELMET will be playing the show.

The $10 goes to pay the bands. I'm offering $5 off, on any posters/ prints to help offset the admission fee.

Last Summer, my buddy Rich Black asked me to write the forward to his NEW ART BOOK that's being published by Dark Horse Comics. Click the link to see a preview of the book.

Not an easy task, since I ain't no writer person and junk. I did my best by mentioning the poster scene, when we first met and Rich's impact on the music scenes he did posters for. Basically I read everyone else's forwards to all of the other rock poster books and did the opposite.

Hope you guys dig the book.

Kinda quiet out here, isn't it?

Usually I do illustration as a hobby, but I did a gig poster I did for my brother's band in April. They paid me a Carls Jr. Fish sandwich for it. But it was fun working on this.

12:25PM - Whatever's Cool With Me - the set

Camel Cigarettes Commissioned me to design 7 posters for a leg of the Dinosaur Jr., tour. I had to design something that would look different if I changed up the colors and the shirt designs 7 different times.

Whew!

These will only be available at the show and NOT on my site. Solly Cholly. You snooze you lose.

12:16AM - Flatstock Europe

Will anyone of you come to Flatstock "10" in Hamburg, Germany by the end of September? I do not know if the exhibition of silkscreen posters is an official Flatstock event, but it is at least kind of supported. AFAIK the american poster institute is promoting it. If you plan to visit, drop me a comment.

4:09PM - Nice Threads?

Hey everyone...I need some help with deciding which 2 of these designs will get produced as t-shirts. I've been staring at this stuff waaaay too long to know heads from tails. Any constructive input would be greatly appreciated. I can only go with 2 designs for now.

6:51AM - FEARLESS VAMPIRE KILLERS

Just got the ok to put this up. Trying my hand with mirroring some of my artwork. I drew one side of the bats and holy water then flipped it. I tried to to draw both sides but the likelihood of me being able to match both sides up didn't seem likely. So instead of working hard I worked smart...to misquote my friend Az Star 78. Anyways...it's based off of FOB's latest video for a song title I'm too lazy to type. The video was part Buffy part Thriller. I liked the idea of them being vampire hunters. The video itself was no Thriller. But I liked the general concept.

The text inside the skull's mouth reads as so "WE'VE ALL BECOME GOD'S MADMEN" It's a quote form Stoker's Dracula. Pretty sneaky between the cheeky huh? My first attempt at drawing bats. I had shitty reference but I did my best.

Included is a detail of a few of the bats and the skull because most of the detail gets lost when it's shrunk down for my site.
